Thread: Free Records Project

Our Idea:



AA is planning to launch a little project to try and offer all its members free records to search.

Our main mission is to get as many records (census, BMD etc) as possible online and searchable for free.



To that end we have set up this little poll to get a rough idea of who would be willing to help with this project.



Project Requirements:



AA will provide the information to each member who is willing to help with the project.

Participating members will receive full instructions from a member of AA staff.



Project Incentive:



I would like to say that you will earn out of this but I cant. No money will be made from this project. Our aim is simple. To provide people with free data rather than paying for it. Your incentive? Personal satisfaction, thats all we can offer.



Note: ALL members who help in this project will have their site usernames listed on the site as a token of thanks from AA. This is not much to offer you but we hope that you can see that this type of project can benefit everyone.



How to apply:



Once we can get a rough idea, from the poll, of how many members would be interested in helping, new usergroups will be set up. These usergroups will be for those who are interested and can be applied for via your personal account pages. Each usergroup will represent different data. For example Usergroup 1 = 1841 london Census, Usergroup 2 = 1550 Suffolk Parish Records etc etc. Once you apply you will be contacted by a member of staff with further details.



Extra Info:



The details of what data will be transcribed will be emailed to all those who are willing to help. At this current time we have a handfull of people transcribing the 1841 London, Hampshire and Norfolk census. They are working extremely hard to get as much done as possible. Help on these will also be included within the usergroups applications section once started.

Plus, I wount start the project untill the summer is over as I know it is a busy period for most.
