Thread: Question To All Members

Hi all,

As you can see from the poll above.

We all know you have two settings for your tree, public and private. Personally, I do not see the point of anyone putting their tree online if they want to keep it private as is limits the possibilities of you making connections. However, we respect our members and will do as they ask.

When using the search system I want to know, if you have set your tree to private, do you want records from your tree to be shown partially or not at all.

Partially:
If you vote for this then if a member uses the search system and the record they are searching is in your tree then the result will be partial and the searcher will have the option to contact you by PM for further information. The only information visible will be first and last name (if not a living person of course).

Not At All:
Any records from your tree will be totally excluded from the search system. This will prevent you from making ANY connections.

When changing your settings in the tree maker, this is what is stated:

Your tree will be "Private". Members will not be able to view your tree in search results without permission from you.

• Having your tree set to private means that your records will only be partially viewed search results. Please note that this greatly reduces the chances of you making any connections. Members will have to contact you by PM when using the AA search system for further information. Private is NOT recommended by AA.
