Thread: What would you like?

Hi all,



It's that time again. As you all know, I am always trying to improve the site for our great members. This thread is going to be aimed at all of you to post your ideas on features that you would like to see on Ancestry Aid.



If you do have any ideas that you think would help the site or you have never seen on any other genealogy site but think it is a great idea then please post them here.



Ideas like the Surnames of Interest system that we introduced a little while back but has proven to be a big hit with all who use it.

Could you explain what type of sub-forums you would like to see Mary?

I see what you mean now. Unforyunately I dont really want to add any more boards to the forums at the moment.

The aim of this thread is to try and get ideas on new things users would like to see. Things like the new surnames system, the vital records system.



I am trying to get ideas from you all for things that you and other members can add to that would also help other users out etc etc.

Thats the sort of thing i'm after Mary. Sorry for not explaining that better.

Not sure if this would work, Mistranscriptions



There are alot of us that do lookups and find all sorts of these



Maybe a board where they could be listed under There proper surnames , and the names they have been transcribed as



Maybe they could run as



a-e f-j k-p ect



Example I done a look up for Star for Hoskins and found it under Haskins

Another i was looking for ended up as being Mrs so and so (cant remember the name off the top of my head



Then people that cant find who they are looking for might have a bit of luck by looking at the mistranscriptions board



But thats the general idea

The only thing I can come up with at the moment is the 'Stray's' idea I mentioned last time round, maybe there was too much work involved in setting this up I don't know, but the member's would be adding most if not all the info required and I do think it would be advantageous to the site, if it could be done. By the way, love Shan's idea also.

e.g If you had to fill in a form of the details needed to cover all aspects of a stray what headings would you give each section of the form. i.e Name , Lastname etc etc.

hello jon , my idea is nothink to do with the boards, but the chat room , i pop in almost every day to the chat room hoping to chat with a member , now and then i find max or loz in there so we do catch up, i think i sticky for chat room times would be a good idea, like say chat room open from 8pm , or any other time , and maybe a mod in there so when we do go in there is another peep to chat to , members will be aware of the chat room times and pop in once they get use to it always being manned, love val xx with speakers on the mods wont have to sit in there just waiting for a member to pop in x
