Thread: Welcome Back

Welcome back everyone!



Firstly, we hope you all had a very happy christmas.



As you can see I have now converted our forum software to this new system. I have been working hard over christmas to get it converted from our old system as quickly as I could for you all. There have been many changes.



Firstly, the bad stuff...



1: You may notice that your avatars/photos etc are missing. This was a problem I could not help for some of you. Please feel free to re-update them.

2: The awards system had to be deleted as it was not compatable with this system. I now have a new system in place though.

3: You may notice other things, please just reply to this thread with your queries and I will do my best to answer them. I am also new to this new system so I may need a little time.

4: I have not yet fully finished the conversion yet. You will notice other changes (albeit tiny ones) as time goes on.



Now the good stuff. What is new...



1: Facebook connect now allows you to connect to your Facebook account and pull in various items from your Facebook account to your Ancestry Aid account. Go to your profile page and click the Edit Profile button (top right of the page). In the next page click on the Manage Facebook Connect link on the left. Then click the Connect With Facebook button and follow the instructions.



2: Status updates. From your profile page you are able to enter your status at the top of the page. This can then be viewed by everyone on the forum.



3: Completely different style. The new software is easier and better to read.



4: Give user rep points for their posts. Each post has a small box in the bottom right corner with a small plus and minus sign. This will allow you to click either one if you think the post is good or not. These clicks go towards the users reputation points.



The list can go on. I will update this post as and when required. The rest of the site (outside the forums) also needs a little attention. I will get round to this as soon as I can.

Later on today I will be adding an all new gallery for you all to add your photos to.



I will also be adding a blogging system so you are able to create your own ownline blogs.



I will update this post when the installation is complete.

Sorry about the login problem. The database conversion had some problems with passwords as they were encrypted. Alot of people will have the same problem you did, which is a shame.

I had the login problem but its easy to rectify love the new site. Happy new Year to you all

Please not that the current colour scheme is NOT final. This is temporary. The new colour scheme will be added soon. The structure will remain the same though.

Members are now able to create their own blogs using our new blogging system.
