Exclamation Should We Keep...

Hi all,

Firstly, I am pleased to announce that the Tree Maker is now complete and as from tommorrow I will be entering the QA phase of the project. This basically means that it is final testing.
I expect that you will all see the Tree Maker within a week or so.

To that end, I have added a poll to this thread.

When the gedcom search feature was added to AA it was because we DID NOT have a tree maker nor did we plan to have one. Now that we will be very soon launching the tree maker is makes the GEDCOM search script rather reduntant not to mention and inferior duplicate of data that everyone will add to the tree maker.

So, you can see the poll, please vote. My personal opinion is that it will be a useless asset once the tree maker goes live.

Thanks all.

Hi Jon,
As you are already aware, I have not used 'Gedcom' at any time and wouldn't really know where to start. So I would go with your views and say no we don't need it once the 'Treemaker' is up and running, maybe member's will have a different opinion.

Hi Jon,

Anyone with a gedcom can import it to their tree. They can then find any connections via the treemaker. I can't see the point of members adding the same gedcom twice and will use up more memory that can be used elsewhere on the site.
