Default Free BMD record submission help

Question: I just entered 2 records - 1 birth and 1 death - for my GM. When I tried to enter the marriage record (I tried 3x), it failed. The response was Error all in red letters. I don't know what the error is. I have the marriage certificate from the GRO.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Another question: I have marriage cerficate for the groom's father. However there are several errors - do I enter as written on the certificate and put the corrections under Additional Information? The residence and the groom's father's name and occupation are incorrect. I know this because I have my GF(his son) birth cert.

Hi kptz,

I have just put one in without any trouble. Maybe it was just a gliche. I would try it again now.
If it is an error with your submission, it will actually tell you what fields you need to complete.

This is the message I received (I just tried again)

Sorry. There was an error. Please Try Again.

Should I just try to input only the information in the red boxes and then edit the record with the information on the certificate itself?

thx

Hi kptz,

You could try deleting cookies.

I didn't see your second question. Add the information as seen on the certificate and add any corrections in the note box.

Have you done a search to check that it hasn't gone in ?

I tried all your suggestions, but still didn't work. So....I entered just the information requested in the red boxes and the record was accepted by the system. Now I will attempt to edit the record I submitted with the information on the certificate and see how far I get.

thx for your help Starlight

Hi Chris,

That is probably the reason. It sometimes happens on the other boards when two post at once.

I just edited the record a little at a time - and it went through. However, I did get an error message when I was putting in the name of the witnesses.

The last name of the witnesses is O'Farrell. If I use the apostrophe between the O and the F I get a syntax error message and the system won't accept the information. If I leave out the apsotrophe, then the system will accept the information.

That leaves a slight problem in that the information is not exactly as it is on the marriage certificate.

thx for the help - maybe Jon has a suggestion as to how to get in the apostrophe.
