Hello everyone,
I have been designing and updating Ancestry Aid for the last four years in my own spare time and when I am on leave from the Army etc. I spend ALOT of hours updating and re-coding the site. We do not ask for much off our members and will always continue to do our best to provide you all with a great and friendly website that will ALWAYS be FREE for you to use. I would, however, appreciate a little courtesy when it comes to emailing me. I really am getting fed up with abusive or rude emails from certain people. If you DO NOT wish to receive emails from Ancestry Aid then please go to your account profile click on "Edit Profile" and UNCHECK the "Receive Email from Administrators" box you will then no longer receive emails from us. Emailing me abuse or calling me names is only going to get you perminantly banned from the site. A simple thankyou or please would be appreciated when asking for help also. Manners cost nothing. My appologies for the moan but I think that most of you would agree with me. Kindest regards. |

Hi Jon,
There is no need to apologize, I totally agree withyou. We all have our own lives to lead and most members do not know anything about the people that give up their own time for the site. I have seen quite a bit when you have been away in Afganistan and Iraq. I can imagine that what you get is a lot worse than me . Sometimes it makes it very hard to carry on but the majority of members make it worth battleing through these times. I am sure that the majority of members appreciate everything you do for them if not there is no reason why they can't find another site. Last edited by Jon; 27-04-2008 at 11:52 AM. |

Well said Jon, like Star has said there is no apology needed and I'm sure most member's appreciate what is done behind the scene's, I certainly do. It's a great site and well managed, where would we all be in our research without it.

I agree Jon, your efforts are greatly appreciated and you only think of what is best for the members.. You go out of your way to keep us informed of what is happening regards the new additions you make to the site and as you say if members don't want to receive these updates it is only a matter of checking a box on their profiles, so there is no need to contact you and be abusive in any shape or form.
So big thank you to you. ![]() |

As you can imagine im very hurt and upset at the abuse Jon has had to put up with , it shocked me that some are like this, all we are doing is trying to help people freely trace their ancestors, Jon has worked very hard to keep improving the site and no matter what do not deserve some of the rude messages he has to put up .

I too am shocked to hear that you've received emails of that kind, Jon. I simply can't understand what would induce anyone to behave in that way, and I hope you realise how much we appreciate the time and trouble you put in to make Ancestry Aid the great site that it is.
anny. I feel badly for you too, Chris. I've just noticed your post, and I can quite understand how upset you must feel. Last edited by anny; 27-04-2008 at 01:30 PM. |

I am appalled that you should have had to post this Jon - among the many great things about Ancestry Aid is the insistence that members are polite to each other and the generally friendly and accepting atmosphere on the boards.
I for one much appreciate the regular emails which make it so easy to use the site - also that there is plenty of opportunity to make constructive suggestions and to have them heard (and acted upon). I do a job where I from time to time come in for my share of abuse and know what it feels like - unfortunately it appears to be a sign of the times. Not many people have the ability and drive to do what you have done and you should not have to put up with this sort of thing. The huge commitment you have made to setting up, maintaining and developing this free site is greatly appreciated by the vast majority of its members. Best wishes Gillian Last edited by gillian; 27-04-2008 at 01:57 PM. |

Well said Jon,
NO ONE working on this excellent site, giving up their free time etc. should have to endure ignorance and rudeness; as you say it costs nothing to 'say' please and thank you. Kind regards, DeeJay. |
