ancesTree TREE MAKER PAGE CONFUSION

The tree maker page here :-
http://www.ancestryaid.co.uk/aatree/cnewtree.php

Does anyone else think that all of these passwords are a little confusing ?
That is, when to use them ?
Could it not be a little simpler, or is just me - - a litle slow on the uptake ?
Perhaps this will be deleted also on 4th May, 2008.

Thumbs up Re: TREE MAKER PAGE CONFUSION

Hi,

That WHOLE system will be deleted on the 4th May. You have pointed out just ONE of the flaws that our currect system has. This is why we have hired professionals to build us a decent Tree Maker programme. Much like the one on Ancestry.

Basically everything contained within: http://www.ancestryaid.co.uk/aatree/
WILL be deleted.

Regards

As you can see Bubbles Jon has a team of people building us a great treemaker similar to the large paying sites , ours will be free to members

When we get the new system you WILL need to register for it though.

However, this will only be because we need to assign the tree you create to your name. The good news is that you will only require ONE password for it.

Sounds good. I understend some protection is needed. One is surely enough as you indicate .

At the moment I am trying to decide on the following two options:
  1. When you login or register to AncestryAid you Tree Maker account is created and you can start using your tree. - The only draw backs with this are actually getting the database to recognise your site registration details and place them into the tree maker account database.
  2. You have to manually create your tree maker account using a username/treename and ONE password. - Drawbacks to this are that I can forsee receiving many many emails from people complaining that they can not login to the tree/site as they are using the wrong details. i.e They are trying to login to the site using the tree account details or vice versa.
I am currently talking with the designers of the system to come up with a solution to these issues. I will be sure to keep you all updated.

Kindest regards
