Thread: Free Records Requests

Hi all,



As you know, I will soon be starting AA's Free Records Project that will be a joint effort by you, AA's members.



Before we start we need to know what it is we are going to transcribe and insert into the database.



To that end please could you all make your suggestions as to what you think we should do. (i.e The 1841 London Census for example).



Once we have a good response to this I will draw up a short list from what is provided and get everyone to vote for the final choice.

As the census's are readily available would it be a good idea to transcribe something else ?

Can you give us some idea of what is available or what you can lay your hands on.

I'm willing to have a go at anything.

Perhaps some Parish Records?



(lol be brill if you got hold of sum Staffordshire ones! )

Allowing for what is already on line and available, I agree with Lozzie in maybe parish records.



Err asks for Derbyshire around Eckington and Beighton, and Sheffield area of Yorkshire (sorry Lozzie).

Definitely agree parish records are the obvious choice and we should go for something which is not already online

Hi all,



As much as I hate being the bearer of bad news, unfortunately we won't be able to do Parish records.

It would mean that all taking part would have to go to their own library and transcribe.

Due to copyright laws we would NOT be able to buy discs for our users to transcribe for us. So, alas, parish records are not an option. Sorry guys.



Time for us to rethink what we will transcribe. SO, come on lets come up with some other ideas please.
