Hi all,



I can now give a more detailed explanation of what will be happening to AA in the near future.



1. AA will close on 1st Dec 2007.

2. I estimate that the closure will last for 1 week only.

3. The whole site will be undergoing a face lift and optimization.

4. NO DATA WILL BE LOST !!

5. Updates will include:

• Revamp of look and feel.
  
• Optimized databases for faster searching.
  
• Gedcom upload and search facility. *NEW*
  
• Hotmatches for gedcom records. *NEW*
  
• Simple "One Form" searching for all databases. *NEW*
  
• Hotmatch results for other search results. *NEW*
  
• Simplified browsing and navigation.

Those are but a few of the new improvements that are planned.



Dont forget to delete your PM's as they are ALL being deleted for the launch.



** Please Note **

The AA Tree Maker will no longer be supported when AA re-opens. It WILL still stay in place though for those that wish to use it but no support will come from AA staff.

The Gedcom facility will eventually replace the tree maker and upon launch will contain alot more handy features. Any questions please ask.



It is recommended that members download their Gedcom files from their tree's in preperation for upload to the new Gedcom system.



I am personally looking forward to new features on AA and think that they will benefit you all.

Due to unforseen work commitments the closure of AA for the updates will be posponed by a week or so.



I forsee the closure starting near the 10th Dec 07. More information will follow once I have a better idea of my diary over the next week.

Thank you for all the work and committment to AA. With very little to go on, I have benefited tremendously from the generosity of the members in learning more about my family history. I have also learned about genealogy itself.



I look forward to the "new" AA.
