Thread: Rovina/Ravina Woodruff born 1868 Dublin Ireland

From the following Illinois marriage database: Illinois Statewide Marriage Index KELSEY, WILLIAM F married WOODRUFF, ROVINA 4 Dec 1886 Vol 00J Page 0061 MC LEAN County, Illinois

I am trying to find Rovina on a census after her marriage to William Kelsey.

William is showing on 1900 census in Bloomington, Mclean, a Roomer, Divorced.

I cannot find Rovina or their son John W. Kelsey after his birth in 1886 until his death on 10 Nov 1922 In Peoria, Peoria, Illinois. He had married Virginia Glazenbrook bu then.

Also I cannot find her emmigration record or William's either.

Any help with Rovina, her son and husband would be very much appreciated. Did she come back to England or marry again in USA?

Have you checked alternative name spellings for Rovina? ie Robina or Rubina?

Yes Rubina I have done that and can tell you that on the IGI she is Robena, on 1871 census in Cheriton Kent she is Ravina, but marriage is Rovina and also Rovina for her son's death details. She was born 1868 in Donney Brooks Barracks, Dublin, where her father was a serving soldier. I imagine that the accent would play a part in her name spelling as her mother was Irish too and couldn't write!!

I have no idea where William Kelsey was born, except Kent in about 1858.
Rovina was born in Dublin 1868 to a serving soldier father William and mother Mary. She was in a convnent in Deal Kent in 1881 a boarder, so imagine they would both emigrate from that area.

I have no idea if or where she married again or even if she died. That is why I posted the query in the hope that you lovely people might give me some guidance on this.

The only clue/red herring I have is that her sister Ada came back to visit a convent, rest home in Dover in the 1911, so I wondered if Rovina had come back and was in that establishment. Will go and look for this address to help anyone.

Entry says sister Ada Washburn (nee Woodruff) is visiting friends at Sisters of Charity, Eastbrook Place, Dover, Kent.

I have tried to find info on son's wife's background but not having too much luck.

I have looked for matches to George and Ada but none seem to match to my great aunt Ada or his parents, so far. There are a lot of people downloading the emigration records for the original Washburns but can't make a match to Ada's George. Most frustrating!!
