    Hi Jean,

I couldn't find very much, but here's the details of the passenger list:

Sailing on the Lusitania departing Liverpool 17 Feb, 1912 and arriving New York 24 Feb, 1912

Adam Groat, 40, m, father, married, seaman

    Ema Groat, 8, f, child

    Liliam Groat, 5, f, child

All have last permanent address of Leith and final destination of Long Island City, New York.

Nearest relative is Adam’s sister, Mrs. Drysdale, Coastguard Station, Birnbrinland(?).

There’s a James and Jessie Drysdale listed here: http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/Coastguards/

Not sure if this is your Adam, but there are a few passenger lists for an Adam Groat as a seaman in 1912-13 along the west coast of the USA. On one ship, he disembarked at St. Helens, Oregon. There is a 1920 Tillamook, Oregon census with an Emma Groat, 16 and Lillian Groat, 14 both b. Scotland, no date of arrival, living with parents John and Lillian Groat. This is stretching it, but maybe it's an aunt and uncle? John arrived in the US in 1889.

    Regards,

    Nadine
