Hi there, I have just read your piece about your family connection to the Hawkhurst gang and I am interested to know about the name Ransley. I was born in Brook, near Ashford Kent, and I am sure that Ransley was the name of someone living in the village at the time 1950/60's.
Also I have just discovered a connection to the Gang myself. Someone called Peter Tickner or Rough Tickner who is an ancestor of my mother's was in the gang, and was with them on the raid on the custom house in Poole, which is near where I now live! Small world isn't it?
