Thank you for getting back with your thoughts. I did as you suggested and downloaded Benvista Zoom, regrettably the best I could before the pixels broke up was clarify in my own mind at least the following.1/ there is a crown, 2/ a oval, 3/ 2 erect kangaroos, 4/ a ribbon or banner, 5/ a name plate hanging from the ribbon.

We still do not know anything about the inscriptions although I believe that it may by a war related broach, that given to a mum who has lost a son at war.
