Greetings and salutations
My name is Bradley (Brad) Dial. I'm from the colonies, but my roots run deep through the United Kingdom. A distant relative of mine named Hastings Harrison did the Dial family (and many others) a huge favor by publishing a book titled Martin Dial and Related Families. It traces my family all the way back to Martin Dial, ggggg-grandfather and even a bit beyond, but when it gets back into the seventeenth century, things tend to come off the rails a bit.
Of course, the name Dial changed over time. It is listed as Dyal, Dyall and further back, as D'Oyley. This is where the major confusion starts. Hopefully, this place will help me get it sorted out. That and a trip to England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland... not to mention France if the D'Oyley root can truly be traced to d'Oilli (d'Ouilli) in Normandy.
Whatever the case, I'm glad to find this place.
