Default Re: own poems

May Bank holiday Monday
And in our little town
A European Market's on
There was loads to look around

Bill bought a string of smoked garlic
Three cheeses for five pounds
Some mustard, sort of peppery
He liked it - I frowned

The charity shops opened
Of course I had to go
Two cushions, a planter and a picture
Under five pounds I'd blown !

The cushions they were tapestry
In rusts and shades of green
The planter was all made of wire
And painted all in cream.

The picture was a little one
On canvas......daffodil I think
Then I met up with Bill again
Needed something to drink.

One coffee and I headed home
To get out of the sun
It gives me such a headache
And really thats no fun.

Bill rolled home a while ago
Pierre, from a market stall
Said 'Have a drink - no have two'
Bill said 'just two, no more !'

But Pierre he wouldn't have it
Just as Bill prepared to go
The landlady said -'here's a beer
Pierre bought' - he couldn't say 'No' !

So now he's on the sofa
Watching snooker, when he should
Be doing something in the garden
Like he said he would.

Oh well, it's not that often
So I'll let him off, after all
He got some more mustard - free
From Pierre's market stall !

Tomorrow I am off to Mums
And maybe, while I'm gone
Bill just might do some gardening
Cos the sun's here all week long.

(AKA Mary)

How beautiful it is to do nothing and rest afterwards...
