I wasn't researching the Appleby family, rather the Babb family, my Great Grand Mother was Sarah Ann Babb who was born in Willenhall in 1845, her grandfather Joseph Babb was married to Phoebe Appleby, at this point I picked up someone elses tree going back to Humphrey Appleby. There also appears to be a connection with the Wood Family as Phoebes mother also Phoebe had that surname. Although I was born in Willenhall I can't recall knowing anyone of that name.
